Two horror films on one day.

We have Jennifer's Body and Paranormal Activity both released on the same day which can only mean one thing. it's the battle of the horror movies. Let's review the two's potential box office success.

Paranormal activity was a huge box office success that reminded me of the Blair Witch project days except this film had a much higher quality to it. Paranormal activity was a great horror film that resorted to the good old what you don't see is scarier than what you do see mentality. It performed spectacularly and the audiences all went crazy for this little gem. The asylum as usual made a mock buster because this film was such a success. it was a breath of fresh air from the usual torture porn shit that we had been force fed for the last decade.

Jennifer's Body was Diablo Cody's attempt at writing a high school horror film and a dark comedy at the same time. While it really didn't succeed critically or box office wise as most had hoped this film did give us a glimpse into an effort at creating an original horror film. Megan Fox was perfectly cast as Jennifer and actually got plenty of praise which was well deserved for her performance as demon Jennifer. However, the scene stealer was easily Amanda Seyfried who carried this film as a the homely friend of jennifer turned bad ass Demon hunter.
I enjoyed this film despite the obvious flaws, and I hope that Diablo Cody takes another shot at the horror genre, all she needs to learn how to do is blend the horror and comedy better than a teenager blending acne cream on his face.

I predict that Jennifer's Body will lose this week to Paranormal activity in DVD sales, but not rentals.

Sherlock holmes review

Well it appears that robert Downey Jr. is taking on another legendary character known as Sherlock Holmes. While he's easily entertaining I must admit that his character seemed slightly awkward when I first watched him mainly due to my knowledge of Sherlock Holmes books.

However needless to say that this film is easily the most entertaining and box office friendly version of this character. Guy Ritchie at least makes it interesting with decent quality and he didn't decide to Michael Bay this movie for a large profit over good quality.

This film has plenty of action, witty dialogue and good entertainment to keep the mood fun and the audience pleased. Robert Downey Jr. and Jude law have great chemistry as Holmes and Watson which makes it the best buddy action movie that isn't forced to have Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan in it.

Guy Ritchie has earned some well deserved box office gold, and mainstream blockbuster success.

A long hiatus

I apologize to anybody who hasn't viewed my blog in awhile due to the lack of postings, but i was on a long hiatus due to school and some work. I'm now managing my time better so that I'm able to report and slash all the movies in theaters and on DVD like I had originally promised to do in the first place.

A Horror movie remake makes the number two spot on worst movies of the decade.

Yes, we now have evidence that Hollywood must truely try to ignore the critics especially with the horror movie remake known as One Missed call which achieved the number two spot on the Rotten Tomatoes list of worst movies of the decade. It came in second with a 0% postive rating from the critics and jsut barely missed the worst movie which was Ballistic ecks vs. Sever. This out to show you why the American bastardizations of japanese horror movie remakes should end unless Gore Verbinski is directing.

Unfortunately we know that it will never end because it's Hollywood and they use whatever it takes to make a profit which is why the original Rec will never be shown in American theaters. the only thing that we'll see is Quarantine and now with the recent release of Rec @ we'll be seeing Quarantine 2 most likely.

Well at elast we now have a bar level as to how low remkes can go we should call it the Remake scale with the worst being One Missed call.

Trick R Treat review

Talk about an awesome halloween movie that was so underappreciated by the studio that it was released staright to DVD. We have one of the best horror movies in a decade and sadly half of the audience will not be able to experience it because of the morons in hollywood right now. seriously, how could a movie this good be on the shelf for so long? We have to sit through the same old remakes and Saw flicks or any film in the realm of torture porn yet we can't see a decent original concept. Well now we can. Besides Paranormal activity this is the best horror film out right now. This is a perfect halloween date movie and I'll just say that you should buy this film without any questions asked.

It stars Anna Paquin, and brian Cox in four intterconnecting stories that all happen during halloween, They're all equally creepy, funny and gorey in their own right. I don't wnat to spil any of the fun, so I'll keep my outh shut on what happens in each story, but it seems like they all have an interesting and delightfully dark twist at every climax.

I am highly impressed with the acting, visual style, and clearly artistic vision that went into this film and I hope we see more very soon when the graphic novel comes out.

Zombieland ravages the box office

It appears that zombies are finally in a good American movie as we have the movie known as Zombieland debuting at number one at the box office this weekend. Finally we have an awesome and gorey zombie comedy that isn't from the british and it only took an amateur director and screenwriter with an original idea to pull it off. It also finally gives Woody harrellson and Jesse Eisenberg some good box office gold. Semi Pro can nut up or shut up!
